“Do not compete with what is happening. To compete is to prepare for failure. Do not be trapped by the need to achieve anything. This way, you achieve everything.”
Introduction to my new “Pay what you will” online class model!
Normally, I would take more time to craft a detailed message for something this significant, but I’m conserving my energy for the upcoming video, which will be released in a day or so. All the essential information you need to register can be found below.
Additionally, to make things a little bit easier, I recorded a short screen recording of me going through the process and talking about it, which is on the schedule page. Once I’ve confirmed that everything is functioning as intended, I will upload more classes, but I’ve intentionally kept the initial offerings manageable to ensure I deliver the best possible experience in my current state.
Thank you for your patience and support—read on and enjoy!
Brother Bear, learning how to catch a sockeye
For years, I’ve walked the line between two worlds—the primal rhythms of the wilderness and the relentless demands of the modern age. And now, I am standing at the edge of something entirely new. A terrifying, exhilarating gamble.
I have stripped away the safety nets, and placed everything on the line, up to an including my life.
I believe—down to the marrow of my bones—that nature education is not a privilege, but a birthright. No one should be turned away from learning the skills that could change their lives simply because of a price tag. As my slow growth into a business person continues, I remember seeing so many classes over these last years that would've benefited me so greatly, but I could never afford them. Had I chose to go with the status quo and price the classes the way I always do, I wouldn't be able to afford my least expensive class right now because everything has been poured into this vision to fulfill promises made to my father and the unseen eternal. I have sacrifice three years of health, happiness, freedom, and friendships.
In the past four years as you well now I've said goodbye to my mother, my father, and my beloved Kora-dog who was almost 18 years old. I also broke a cardinal roll of business, and very early on. I put all my eggs in one basket. Ever since then I have been alone and gone through all of these experiences alone for the first time in my life up until all of this began the longest I had lived alonewas maybe six months otherwise I've always had a partner that I lived with or roommates. I often remember my father saying there is an ocean of difference between being alone and loneliness, and every time you would say that I was well-versed in the “Alone” aspect and I thought I had met loneliness and let me tell you something I was so incredibly wrong. I often envision situations or problems as physical things, and examine them as I would a stone or another piece of treasure found in the wild places for this entire time I felt like the one dogbane stock that got dropped on the side of the trail on accident and never got the chance to be bound with my fellow individual strands into good strong rope. Being that I went all in right away. I had no choice but to forge your head working myself nearly to death trying to pay the bills also so I can fulfill the promises. Hey brother.
But belief alone isn’t enough. Belief has to be tested, forged in fire, and proven.
That’s why I’m launching my “Pay What You Will” Epic Online Classes—a system built on trust, passion, and the certainty that those who recognize the value of this work will help sustain it for those who truly cannot afford it. I would rather take a hit financially to ensure you get the right information on any of the skills.
How It Works: The “Pay What You Will” System
• No Paywall, No Barriers – If you need these skills but can’t afford them, you are welcome. No questions asked.
• Honor System – If you can contribute, I ask that you do, based on what feels fair and within your means.
• Sustaining the Mission – Your support ensures I can continue offering free access to those who need it most, while also honoring the years of experience, dedication, and resources that go into creating these classes.
• Community Over Competition – This isn’t about making a quick buck. It’s about building a movement, a network of people who understand that real knowledge is earned, not bought. IF I KNOW OF SOMEBODY THAT CAN TEACH A SPECIFIC SKILL BETTER THAN I THEN I WILL CONNECT THE STUDENT WITH THAT PERSON. YOUR EDUCATION IS MY PRIMARY CONCERN.
• A Promise to You – Every class I offer is designed to transform the way you see, move through, and interact with the natural world. This isn’t just education—it’s a way of life.
They don’t know the fire in the hearts of those drawn to this path. They don’t understand the depth of commitment from those who have walked these trails before and recognize the urgency of passing this knowledge forward.
Technology Meets Tradition: A New Era of Nature Education
I’m taking things further than ever before—leveraging cutting-edge technology to bring you immersive, real-time experiences. With the help of my corporate sponsors, I’ll soon be using a drone webcam, allowing you to track wildlife with me, seeing what I see, as I see it. Imagine watching the fresh tracks of a black bear appear on an untouched Oregon beach—live, in high definition.
This is not just another online class.
This is the future of wilderness education.
The Reality of 2025: A Warning and a Challenge
The outdoor industry is being flooded with self-proclaimed “experts” who lack real-world experience. People are literally dying in survival courses because of instructors who have never actually put their own skills to the test.
I will never promise you shortcuts. I will never sell you false confidence.
What I offer is something much rarer: the truth.
